Fentanyl Pills

Fentanyl has been the key component in the recent rise of accidental overdose deaths in the U.S. It is said to be about 50 times more potent than heroin and up to 100 times more powerful than morphine.

This news brings to light the possible cause of Prince’s death. There are now two likely scenarios: Either the manufacturer of the prescription drug labeled it incorrectly, or the medication was created and obtained through illegal channels.

According to the Star Tribune, investigators and officials believe that Prince was unaware that his medication had the deadly mixture of fentanyl.

The Dangers Of Fentanyl

Recently, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported counterfeit pills that contained fentanyl to be the root cause of the heroin/opioid epidemic that the U.S. is currently facing. As a result, the DEA issued a national health alert in 2015, bringing attention to the fentanyl overdose issue our country is facing. Fentanyl has become the new heroin, except much stronger and deadlier. Officials have not revealed the exact dose that caused the accidental overdose that Prince suffered, but they did state that what was found in his system would have had the power to kill anyone at any size.
