Ex-‘Sopranos’ Star Lillo Brancato Jr. Talks About His Drug Addiction

Sharethis Watershed

Lillo Brancato Jr., former “Bronx Tale” and “Sopranos” star, wants to help young people from heading down the same path that led him to a life of crime and drug addiction. Brancato spent 8 years in prison for his role in a home invasion that resulted in the death of a police officer.

Lillo Brancato Jr. Talks Recovery

“Here I am, I get the opportunity, I get the shot and then squander it, and do what I did, and get addicted to drugs and just make horrible decisions,” said 37-year-old Lillo Brancato Jr.

In December of 2013, Brancato was paroled after serving time for his involvement in a crime that shocked Hollywood. In 2005, Brancato broke into a Bronx home looking for Valium with friend Steven Armento, who was also part of the Genovese crime family. Off-duty Officer Daniel Enchautegui heard the shattering of glass and came to investigate. When the two men were confronted, guns were drawn and the off-duty police officer was killed. Armento was accused of firing first.

Prior to the murder, Brancato and Armento were out drinking all night at a local Bronx strip club. Lillo Brancato Jr.  was acquitted of the murder charge, but convicted of attempted burglary. Steven Armento was convicted of murder however.

Lillo Brancato Jr. got clean and sober in prison in 2006 and decided to dedicate his life to helping others avoid that same path he had chosen. Brancato stated that the most important thing he gained from his time in prison is the ability to get through hard times without the use of drugs.

Recovery From Drug Addiction

It is not uncommon to hear about stars getting addicted to drugs, but when an innocent life is taken as a result of poor choices, it can be a frightening reality to face for everyone. Had Brancato not been involved in drugs or the people he was associating with in his addiction, he may have never even encountered this life changing situation for all involved, and a man would still be alive.  No life has to be wasted as a result of drug addiction, not the person struggling with drug abuse or the lives that are affected as a result of the addict’s actions. Addiction is real and it affects all those around the sufferer.

We hope that Lillo Brancato Jr. continues to stay on the road to recovery and does help others either recover from addiction or avoid drug abuse all together. Each recovering addict’s story has the power to change the world and whether it’s a change for the good or the bad is entirely up to the story teller.

If you are suffering from drug addiction, you do not have to go down the same path as Brancato, there is another way to live and The Watershed can help.  No matter how far down you think have gone, there is always hope of recovery. Please contact us today!
